• RECIPE OF THE WEEK

Ingredients

 

  • 2 tins of beans ( pinto , black eyed , whatever you can get )
  • 1 cup of breadcrumbs
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 1 tspn pepper
  • 1/2 tspn garlic powder
  • Half a finely chopped chilli (optional )
  • An onion finely diced and sautéed ( optional )
  • A few mushrooms , chopped and sautéed)
  • Any herbs you like finely chopped ( optional )

 

Method

 

Drain one tin of beans but keep the liquid , pour beans into a mixing bowl and mash down with a fork. Drain the other tin and discard the liquid add to the bowl.

 

Add it the breadcrumbs , pepper , garlic and eggs plus any other flavourings you’re using. Add a little of the reserved liquid and bring the mix together.

 

Divide into 6 portions and shape into burgers. Chill to let them firm up.

 

Heat some oil in a pan and fry the burgers until a crust has formed on the outside then turn over and d the same on that side.

 

Serve in a toasted bun with salad and a cheese slice if liked.
