We presently have limited spaces but we are looking for new volunteers.
There are variety of roles including, food sorting and packing, picking up donations and serving clients. We need volunteers on Sunday morning, Tuesday evening and Wednesday.
We operate a non-contact service; clients remain outside, and volunteers follow current government guidelines. Masks, visors and hand washing facilities are provided. We also encourage social distancing.
If you would be interested in helping on a Wednesday times are 10am-2.30pm (although this can sometimes be shorter)
If you are unable to help on Wednesday, we have pick-ups of donations to do on a Sunday morning and a Tuesday evening collection from Tesco and Waitrose. We also a few jobs that could be done from home, like arranging the pick-ups and drop off and answering emails.
You can download our application form here. Please complete this and email it to info@hangletonfoodbank.org.
You must be over 18 and not on the governments at risk shielding list.

We also welcome people who have used the food bank to volunteer their time when they no longer need support. Below is their experience in their own words.
When both our benefits were finally reinstated we were almost sad about not having our weekly trip across the road to see the lovely volunteers at the food bank. We started going to the coffee mornings up the road at St Peter’s. After a while I decided to go back to the food bank but this time as a volunteer. I’d appreciated the friendship and care that had been shown to me so much that I wanted to be able to give that to someone else who was in a similar position to the one I’d found myself in.
The friendship and sense of community that I get from volunteering has helped me enormously. I can’t work because I have mental health problems. I’m also not always able to volunteer and have had quite a number of months off during my couple of years at the food bank. But they always understand, they never put pressure on me to come back, but when I do I’m welcomed with open arms.
